It’s been a few years since Joel has been here — eight, to be exact — but no grass has grown under this esteemed Midwestern singer-songwriter and humorist in the meantime. A self-described maverick in the folk world, he defies easy pigeonholing. By turns he may play fiddle or mountain banjo to accompany an ancient ballad, sing a witty song about modern life, pair a Carter family song with a sweet Irish melody on guitar, swing a hot jazz number, or reach deep for commentary on finding value in today’s troubled world. He has two dozen albums, the latest being “A Bird in This World” (2015), has been featured at many major festivals including Philadelphia and Vancouver, and has shared the stage with top artists from John Prine to Joan Baez. We’re very pleased to welcome him back!
