Getting Ready for the Falmouth Road Race

The Falmouth Road Race is a non-profit organization that has pledged to promote health and fitness through charitable programs. Established in 1973, The Falmouth Road Race has grown to become a leading running event of the summertime and has raised over $45 million for charity partners since 2000.

Last year, The Falmouth Road Race was put on as a virtual event. The organization is more excited than ever to have runners back in person to race with a reduced field size. On August 15, the 2021 ASICS Falmouth Road Race will draw a field of both elite runners and recreational runners out to trek the 7-mile oceanside course.

With just over a month left until the event, learn more about the race and how you can spend your time if you’re planning on being there as a runner or spectator!

Race Day

The course will travel 7 miles along the waterfront, past Nobska light, Surf Drive, Falmouth Harbor and finishing in Falmouth Heights. The race will begin on Water Street (Woods Hole) and participants will cross the finish line on Grand Avenue (Falmouth Heights).

Roads in town will be blocked off due to the popularity surrounding this event. Buses to the start area in Woods Hole will begin at 5:45 AM from the loading area at the Lawrence Junior High School (113 Lakeview Avenue) and the last bus will leave at 8:00 AM sharp!

Where to Stay for Falmouth Road Race Weekend

Because it’s such a popular weekend in Falmouth, hotels book very far in advance. The Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce has put together a resource for local lodging on the Upper Cape.

Most hotels have a 3-night minimum this weekend due to the popularity of Falmouth Road Race weekend. No need to fret, there will be plenty of things to do and places to visit while you’re in town for a few days!

Check out Falmouth’s best beaches with the family. The area also offers spectacular water view restaurants. Grab a bite to eat at a few of these gems in Falmouth and Woods Hole: Quick’s Hole, Landfall Restaurant, the Flying Bridge, Falmouth Raw Bar, or Pier 37 Boat House.
